Black Lodge Studio, 3rd Floor, 100 Arthur Street
In this hands-on workshop, participants will collaborate with the internal chemistry of plants in the creation of 16mm film images. We will explore working with plants in the black and white film developing process, reimagining a sustainable approach to working with film. Participants will shoot and hand process a roll of 16mm film & create their own direct animation with the Phytogram method. Prior experience shooting with a Bolex is encouraged but not necessary.
About the instructor:
My name is Ryan Steel. I am an interdisciplinary filmmaker from Winnipeg, Manitoba. My art is informed by my DIY work ethic and obsession with hazy analog images.
